Secure by design. Built for Canadian law.

Every clinic brand in its own database, encrypted in transit and at rest, with a restore rehearsed every week, and designed to support your obligations under Canadian privacy law.

Each tenant runs in its own database.

Your data, in its own database.

Every brand and legal entity runs in its own database, and a location can be provisioned with one of its own. No shared patient table to misquery, no tenant column to forget.

Row level security sits underneath, and the application connects as a role that can read and write rows, nothing more.

Proof

Checked, not assumed.

Most of what a privacy officer needs to trust is not a feature. It is whether anyone has tested the thing that has to work on the worst day.

A restore drill every week

An automated drill restores the newest backup into an isolated cluster and checks what comes back.

Encrypted backups, taken daily

Every database is dumped daily, ownership and grants included, and encrypted before it is stored.

Isolation checked across the fleet

One command walks every tenant database and fails on the first row sitting where it does not belong.

An audit trail nobody can edit

Access to patient data and to money is recorded in a log no application role can change.

Break-glass, on the record

Emergency access needs a second approver, expires on its own, and is audited from request to expiry.

Patient fields kept out of logs

An always-on scrubber strips patient fields before anything reaches an operational log.

One request, one tenant database.

A request arrives over TLS, runs with the roles of the person who made it, and reaches exactly one tenant database: the one that owns the record.

Encryption

Four layers of encryption.

In transit

TLS encrypts every connection between a browser and norvelle.

At rest

AES-256 covers the disks, the backups and every stored file.

In the sensitive columns

Health card, date of birth and other sensitive fields carry a second layer, found by blind index.

In the backups

Every dump is encrypted before it is stored, and so are the deployment secrets.

Every action, on the record.

PHI

Someone opens a patient chart

A chart, a patient list, a document: looking is an event, recorded against the person who looked.

Billing

An invoice is issued, voided or written off

The action, the invoice, the person and the reason they typed are all kept, word for word.

Security

Data leaves in an export

Exports are recorded with the row count and a fingerprint of the file that left.

Break-glass

Emergency access is granted

The request, the second approver, the written justification and the expiry sit in the same log.

Ten years

The entry stays as written

norvelle can add to the log and read it. No application role can update or delete a line of it.

Yours

Your administrators read it

Filter by person, action or date to see what someone did and how often, then export an encrypted copy.

One architecture. Thirteen jurisdictions.

PHI stays in Canadian data centres, under Canadian jurisdiction. One architecture is designed to support your obligations under PIPEDA, the provincial health acts, and Quebec's regime, with the same controls in every province.

Marketing email needs express consent recorded against the patient, and silence is never consent. Invoices, receipts and payment links are transactional mail and send without it.

Payments

PCI DSS

Card details are entered in Stripe hosted fields and never reach norvelle. We keep a token plus the card brand, last four digits and expiry. Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 service provider, does the processing.

The custodian model, plainly.

Your clinic: the custodian

You decide why information is collected and who sees it.

norvelle: the service provider

We handle PHI only on your instructions.

The agreement between us

A data processing agreement governs safeguards, breach notice, and return of data.

Plain questions, plain answers.

We map the architecture to your statute and leave you the documentation your assessment needs.
